As for me running for President – look, there’s a guy in office who is smarter than anybody you know, and nicer, and he’s having an almost impossible time governing. - George Clooney

Is Obama smart?

Smart enough to fool George Clooney, I guess.

So … no. Not really.

I wish Morgan Freeman would follow me around and narrate my life as it happened.

Hmmm. Maybe it’s just me, but …
I like Morgan Freeman as an actor, but he gets way too many roles that call for an authoritative, distinguished, wise, yet kindly and endearing older guy. Does every such role need to go to Morgan Freeman?
There was a time, not that long ago, when black actors couldn’t get a single serious role in Hollywood. Now we have the opposite: a single black actor who gets a lot of serious roles.
I’m not sure what this says. Maybe there aren’t any white actors who can do that role? In which case, what the hell?
Or maybe the movie studios are making up for past sins? You know, affirmative action, political correctness, i.e., overt discrimination against perfectly capable white actors.
Or, maybe I’m just off my rocker. That’s always possible. It’s not like I sat down and studied all this. It’s just an impression I’ve developed over the years.
Anyway, nothing against him, he’s just doing his job, and doing it very well, and taking the excellent roles that have come his way. Good for him. And he really is a good actor, and I’ve always liked him and his roles and the way he played them.
It just seems like Hollywood is a tiny bit obsessed with him, for whatever reason. So is it just me, or does he get the lion’s share of the juicy, positive, mature male roles in Hollywood over the last 15 years or so, and if so, why?
