“Father and Son” - Cat Stevens

“You’ll still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not …”

So much wisdom, packed into a 1970 pop song. But our kids don’t see it. They can’t, really.

“You’re still young, that’s your fault, there’s so much you have to go through …”

All you parents, listen to the words. Then listen to it again.

“Look at me, I am old, but I’m happy …”

Kids, you too. Your parents might be uncool, but they know more about what’s important than you think they do. Listen to them. And grab life by the horns and don’t let go. Opportunities don’t come along every day. Take chances. You’ll be glad you did.

Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Cat Stevens “Father and Son”

I love this song … “you’re still young, that’s your fault, there’s so much you have to go through”“look at me, I am old, but I’m happy”“I know, I have to go away” … the way he alternates which character POV he sings from, with his voice, from verse to verse, the patient and quiet and wise old man vs. the anxious and impetuous and loud son … a cool song to play on acoustic guitar, too … a timeless classic.
